I love it when I get invited to one of the "grands" special days..
Colin had a "Discovery day".
Parents are invited to come and share something
with the class that they know about.
There was a poster spotlighting Colin when we arrived.
The kids asked him questions about himself.
****************
The "discovery" part was shared by Marci (Colin's mom) about her
knowledge about France.
(Marci served a Mission there, and met my son while serving in the same mission)
******
There were posters, music, games, songs, money all in French.
The kids loved it, and learned to say French words.
Marci asked the question "how do you say thank you in French"?
and a little girl raised her hand and said "Merci"
I learned that from reading "Fancy Nancy"..
************
My favorite game was where the kids were taught
how to say french sounds that animals make.
For example a cat "purrs" here, in France he says "ronron"
Colin got to be dressed up as a French Chef.
Treats of french pastries were passed out. It was to remind the kids
of a french holiday called the Kings cake.
Whoever finds the figurine of a king in the cake
gets to be King for the day. Marci used a marble. There were two students
who got to wear crowns the rest of day.
