My home is a refuge not only from the world, but from my worries, my troubles, my concerns. I like beautiful things around me. I like to be beautiful because it delights my eyes and my soul is lifted up.

"Floating" with the Family.......

Saturday the 24th of July we Utahan's celebrate our pioneer heritage.

departure date-April 14, 1847
arrival date- July 21-24,1847
The original pioneer Co. consisted of 142 men
3 women, 2 children
72 wagons..
they left the outfitting post of
winter quarters in Nebraska
they covered 1031 miles of the trail in 111 days
.

The days of 47 parade every 24th celebrates the arrival of these first settlers to the Salt Lake Valley..

This year the Theme is "Then and Now"

At the south towne expo mart they have a "float preview"

Monday and Tuesday before the actual parade day.

You can vote on your favorite.

This year Joe and Marci did this for their family night activity..They asked me to go along.

air conditioned, walk around and through the floats

with all the pictures you want.

enjoy (some of the) Days of 47 floats 2010

Joe, Marci, Dakota, Emma, Colin, Camri, Beau and Annie

(Listen to the prophets voice)

(harvest the fun)

(family search)

(fun keeps families afloat)

(turning trials into treats)

(being prepared)

(dreams come true)

(dream big--save big)

You can still go tonight @ 5:30 if you want to see the floats yourself...free of charge

We went to Joe and Marci's afterward and had watermelon....
perfect refreshment to a perfect night

When I got to my home, I found Brandon and Heather's family swimming with a special guest:

That's exactly what my mom and my sister did last night too. One thing I miss, living in AZ, is not celebrating the 24th like they do in UT. We just have a ward campout planned. Maybe I need to come up there!

Sue, your pictures are sooo cool!! By the time we got there, it was impossible to take a good picture without somebody blocking the view. We should have just listened to Joe and Marci, when they invited... too bad we have slow eaters :)

Thank you for sharing!
