Part of being in this world and being mortal
is expecting at some point in your life to be ill.
What you don't expect is to have a chronic illness that is going to last 15 years.
Mark thinks of himself as a modern day JOB.
He deals with chronic pain
every minute of everyday.
Head to toe. Even eyelashes, and nail beds hurt.
Everything. All the time.
*
He has learned to deal with his illness.
To look at him, he looks normal.
Is that a good thing?
It really doesn't change anything,
but at least people
aren't staring and wondering what is wrong with him.
On Friday Mark had to have his throat stretched.
Just one more thing that isn't working right.
He struggles to swallow and chokes on food and pills.
Here he is hooked up to all the IV'S
Mark came out of the procedure high on life.
He had "NO PAIN", none, zilch, notta for at least one hour.
I actually wanted what he was on. He was sooo happy.
He was ready to conquer the world and all its
problems.
But like most things, his happy time didn't last.
The Pain came back with a vengeance.
So we are back to taking one day at a time. Looking for
happy moments, playful times. Mark really tries to focus
on the good and the many blessings he has.

And..more than anything we try to believe and live this thought.
One of the highlights of the weekend
was to pick a POPPY flower for our Poppy (Alex).
Grandpa loves this girl.
When you are suffering look for opportunities to serve others.
Here's the lesson for all of us.
Love you Mark.
I look up to you, and know more than anyone how much you suffer.
May the Lord continue to bless you
and help you endure the trials of this life.
Love Sue

Since when does a gunshot wound require a rectal exam?
Glad you are doing well father.
Loved the title of the post because it's so true, and those who deal with things that aren't visible tend to get this a lot!
Love the inspirational posters. If you'
re happy and you know it share your meds......I snorted out loud with laughter and then Faith in the Lord is Faith in His timing. So true.
Hugs to you and Mark!
you guys were in my dreams last night (!) i wanted to say hello today, and i'll email later, but i hope things are going okay... such difficulty! talk to you soon! love you guys ;)
We were just talking about this. My father-in-law deals with chronic pain too, but like your husband, just goes on. I feel bad for them. I've been struggling just with some numbness and pain in my jaw since a wisdom tooth extraction for 2 1/2 weeks now, and I can't imagine living every day in pain. My grandpa also had to have that throat stretching done a few times. It did help. Amazing the things they can do.
